Stanley Speed, formerly known as Stanley Speed Solutions, was founded in 2012 by James Stanley Jr. with a singular mission: to elevate performance and professionalism within the kart racing community through experience, technical knowledge, and hands on support. What began as a way to help friends and fellow racers quickly grew into a trusted service brand rooted in nearly two decades of competitive racing involvement.
James Stanley Jr.’s karting journey began in 2005 at the age of fourteen when his late uncle, Ed Richer, invited him to assist with race operations for his cousin and driver, Dave Richer, at dirt tracks across New York. That first season served as an intensive education, where James absorbed the fundamentals of chassis setup, race preparation, and trackside problem solving under the guidance of his family.
Later that year, both families relocated to North Carolina, placing James in the heart of American racing culture just outside Mooresville. The increased exposure to competition and industry resources accelerated his development both as a racer and as a technician.
In the fall of 2006, James made his competitive driving debut at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina. Despite engine failure late in his first feature event, he immediately demonstrated front running pace and left the race with a clear commitment to pursue karting seriously. The remainder of the season included multiple competitive starts and steady progress.
By 2007, James purchased his first personal kart and began competing regularly in adult divisions. Success soon followed, highlighted by his first career victories and ultimately his first championship in the North Carolina King of the Clay series in 2009. These early accomplishments established a foundation for a long and successful career behind the wheel.
After years of racing and wrenching with the Richer family, James launched Stanley Speed Solutions in 2012 to formally offer kart assembly, setup services, and performance support to the broader racing community. In April of 2013, he joined Phantom Racing Chassis as Sales Manager, a position he held through December of 2025. During his tenure, James worked closely with racers across the country and played a key role in customer support, product knowledge, and brand growth within the karting industry.
Immediately following his departure from Phantom Racing Chassis, James began his next chapter with K1 RaceGear, where he currently serves as a Gear Specialist and Sales Representative. In this role, he focuses on driver safety, proper fitment, and education while continuing to support racers across karting and other motorsports disciplines.
Since beginning his driving career in 2006, James Stanley Jr. has accumulated hundreds of feature wins, multiple national, state, and local championships, and significant career earnings. More importantly, he has earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to helping racers perform at their best both on and off the track.
Stanley Speed by James Stanley offers a variety of services including (but not limited to) new PRC kart assembly, kart scaling, seat mounting, body mounting, kart repairs, trackside support & labor, tire rentals, tire prepping, tire cutting, etc.
Kart racing is a dangerous activity and should only be performed by trained and licensed professionals. It is the users sole responsibility to determine the overall safety of the products they use. Obtaining higher speeds and performance from your kart increases the risk of injury. Stanley Speed does not assume any liability from labor performed and/or advising its customers in performance.
